Conservatory renewal: away from aluminum conservatory, away from wood / aluminum conservatory ...

Until recently there was an outdated, poorly insulated aluminum winter garden that was too hot in summer and too cold and damp in winter! A glass construction that could never be used properly and was actually not suitable as a full-fledged living space. The winter garden should be renewed!

The client's first idea was to rebuild the new winter garden in principle very similar to the old one, with a glazed monopitch roof and a facade division that should take up the lines from the gable glazing above the winter garden.

After intensive consultations, however, I (Matthias Steinbach) was able to convince our customers not to do this and optically and consciously decouple the new living room conservatory from the old construction and the existing gable glazing and at the same time, not only technically but also atmospherically, a big leap forward to make in front. A delicate matter, but after a few intensive discussions, the customer ultimately supported it with great enthusiasm.

So it was a cubic flat roof winter garden that is completely open to the house, so that a friendly and very spacious living / dining area with a very, very pleasant living atmosphere was created. Initially, the client certainly did not expect this unbelievably positive change. Everything done right!

This mail then reached us after the end of assembly:

Good evening Mr. Steinbach,

great team, good work, nice feeling of space, great result.

Greetings from Krefeld

J. and R. B.

The assembly of the winter garden was also a challenging task from a structural point of view. For a technically and physically correct house connection, the ventilated sand-lime brick wall in the area of ??the winter garden connection had to be removed and supported.

The side stone wall was redesigned and offers additional space in the winter garden and a certain amount of shielding from the street. Very important: in order to preserve the three-dimensionality of the winter garden, such walls must never go through the entire depth (and height) of the winter garden to the front!

Of course, this high-quality NOVARA winter garden also offers all the technical and optical features of an innovative Steinbach winter garden. For example:

  • Slim wood-aluminum construction in living quality, with deep transoms
  • Flat base with barrier-free safety sliding door
  • Stainless steel step protection in the plinth bolt inside as a floor connection
  • Ventilated, thermally insulated flat roof
  • Self-developed, thermally insulated profile system with cascade drainage
  • Seamless transition of the ceiling cladding into the glass, without a bulky connection profile
  • Fine all-glass corners with a stainless steel column inside
  • Circumferential special channel, which also serves as a cover for the retracted facade shading (external blinds). This means that no additional bulky panels have to be installed on the outside of the conservatory.
  • On-site roof extension (insulation, vapor barrier, battens, plasterboard ...)
