This approximately 30m² large, cubic flat roof winter garden with a gable roof dome was created on a previously barely used terrace in the corner of the house.

The builders wanted a change and, after extensive consultation with Steinbach, decided in favor of a winter garden from the NOVARA line for two reasons. On the one hand, the landlord wanted an extension that is more reticent and creates a certain tension between the classic hipped roof and modern glass extension. On the other hand, the deep all-round roof overhang did not offer a sufficient connection height for a classic winter garden.

The winter garden is equipped with triple energy-saving glass and all-glass corners with internal stainless steel supports and has circumferential external venetian blinds as facade shading and privacy protection, which retract concealed behind the Steinbach special channel profile and thus make additional panels unnecessary.

Inside, this modern extension is made of fine zebrano wood!

The surrounding flat roof zone ensured an optimal connection to the rather low eaves of the residential building, while maintaining a minimum ceiling height of 2.50 m in the area of ??the flat roof. The ridge height of the dome is around 3.80 m.

A "normal" pent roof winter garden with a glass roof, as offered by the competition, would not have worked there, due to the then very oppressive, low-lying glass roof surface and no reasonable ventilation!

The glass dome opens the winter garden to the middle and ensures a pleasant, light-flooded atmosphere and optimal brightness. Well-measured ventilation is ensured by two tilt windows in the glass dome and two deep ventilation windows in the facade.

The winter garden is currently being set up and in the future it will serve as a gentleman's room with a pool table and Chesterfield armchairs, in which the host can retire in the evening with a glass of wine and a cigar and enjoy the evening with a wonderful view.
