Here a rarely used balcony was enlarged / modified and built over with an exclusive Steinbach winter garden in Bauhaus style with a beautiful hipped roof glass dome!
The client wanted a modern extension with the most balanced room climate possible throughout the year (! Well insulated flat roof!), Large panoramic windows (! NOVARA winter garden with emphasis on the vertical!) For an unobstructed view of the surrounding nature and still the "winter garden" Glass roof feeling "upwards (! Hipped roof glass dome!). The large extension was to be used as a dining and relaxation room.
The result blows your mind! The spacious NOVARA winter garden impresses with its elegant construction and the amazing view of the Westerwald. The well-insulated flat roof with a sensational U-value below 0.19 W / m²K ensures a very balanced, comfortable room climate. In winter hardly any energy is lost through the roof, in summer there is almost no energy input thanks to the good insulation of the flat roof!
In addition, the all-round floor duct heating ensures a warm air curtain in front of the glass facade and optimal heating on cold winter days.
The continuous shading of the facade (so-called external blinds) prevent overheating in direct sunlight and at the same time serve as privacy and glare protection.
Shading and ventilation (four tilt windows with concealed motor drive) are controlled centrally and completely independently via an 8-channel controller. |
Our popular LED starry sky is integrated in the glass dome. In addition, an elegant table lamp provides direct illumination of the table surface. We milled and installed a corresponding counterpart in the dome to accommodate the canopy of the table lamp (quasi the lamp base at the end of the cable above ...).
As a special lighting gimmick, a circumferential LED strip is incorporated into the ceiling near the glass facade.
The exclusive all-glass corners with internal stainless steel support, the slim post profiles (only 60mm wide!) And the stainless steel edge protection, in the transition from the foot bar to the floor, are mandatory!
Another important aspect is the ratio of "glazed dome to closed flat roof". On the one hand, the glass dome creates a wonderful light and volume effect, on the other hand, it also influences the climate of the winter garden. The glazed dome does not insulate as well as the thickly insulated flat roof. Whereby not even the thermal insulation from the inside to the outside in the cold season is decisive, but rather the strong energy input from the outside to the inside in the warm season. A glass surface that is too large can quickly lead to overheating (topic "summer heat protection"!).
So that this energy input does not make the winter garden "inedible", the dome roof glass is designed as neutral sun protection glass. You can work quite well with it up to a certain dome size. However, it is very important that the size of the dome does not exceed a certain ratio to the total size of the roof area. Too large a dome will destroy any living comfort, as these domes can only be shaded ineffectively.
We would be happy to recommend the right dome size for your special winter garden in a personal consultation! |
